There is an 8.5 mile circular walk from the cottage to Aira Force via Gowbarrow Fell which has stunning views of Ullswater as well as very varied scenery. The Royal is only a few hundred yards off the route, about half-way, so is an ideal place to take a break for a meal or a drink.

Askham

Askham is approximately 5.8 miles from our cottages. Instead of driving the whole way, there is a pleasant walk across the fells from Pooley Bridge to Askham which takes an hour or so.
